Hello everyone, I have been working for some time with Data in different sectors ( Mechanical Engineering, Markerting & Finance) for the automotive Industry.

In my opinion you should cover the following 4 areas ( Personally I am learning number 4 now, and trying to practice the other 3 so I do not forget what I learned:

  1. Data Visualisation: ( Power Bi, Tableau, Qliksense)
  • For Power Bi, I would really suggest the course from Chris Dutton, I did this course twice and It really gave me a lot of knowledge for Power Bi.
  • Regarding Tableau, I would suggest the 30 min tutorial from freecodeCamp.org in YouTube, this is totally free and it is really good to get started.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPMlZxRRaBQ

  • For Qliksense, I plan to do the free demo in a couples of weeks.. ( I will post my experience soon).

2. Databases: any SQL language, (Mysql, Postgre, Oracle)

  • There is a 20 hours course in Mysql that is really great, I remember I was doing a project at work and this course saved my life, they will also teach you how to connect databases from python!

Regarding Postgree, here is all you need:

Finally, for Oracle, it will be the same, just read this tutorials but after learning mysql they are all very similar.

3. Programming Languages

R, this is such a wide language that it really depends on what you want to do, my suggestions would be to focus only in wrangling data, learning to filter, sort and arrange.

Learn the basics,with one package:

dplyr: these functions will save your life, select(), arrange(), filter(), summarise(), and mutate().

Why? Because for the plots you can always use Power Bi, Tableau or Qliksense, I will make a post in the future about how to make dashboard with R, but it takes more time, and you will need more packages ( a lot!)….

Regarding Python, we could talk about Python for hours, but I would recommed this course:

4. Cloud:

This is my current weakness, I would advise to go for AWS since it is the most popular right now, but i will leave this one for a next post.

Good luck!
